The reveillon (“awakening” in French) tradition dates back to the mid-1800s, when Creole families held elaborate feasts after midnight mass on Christmas Eve. Today, top New Orleans restaurants offer prix fixe menus throughout December, but these are not your average multi-course meals. Most reveillon dinner menus are rooted in our regional cuisine, highlight celebration foods, and feature luxe ingredients (think: truffles, oysters, foie gras).
