New Orleans joined the burger bandwagon in a big way this year, so when the online daily Nola Defender launched the NOLA Burger Brawl challenge in September – pitting 16 of New Orleans’ best burger joints against each other in a double-elimination beef smackdown – the hot, new burgers in town seemed to have the obvious edge. But once again, proving tradition nearly always trumps the trendy in New Orleans, local burger chain New Orleans Hamburger & Seafood Co. took home top honors in the brawl.
“It is an absolute honor to be selected as the favorite burger by a city filled with ‘foodies’ and to go head-to-head with other great burger joints in New Orleans,” says NOHSC owner Paul McGoey. “We may be perceived as ‘just a local chain of restaurants’ but I think a contest like this shows there’s a reason we’ve been around for over 27 years.”
New Orleans Hamburger & Seafood Company operates eight locations in the greater New Orleans area.
